Spring is here!
Spring is finally here and we are so happy to see sunlight bursting back through our windows... It feels like the start of life coming back to our little home in Elwood and judging by our bookings most of you are eager to lighten up!
So I've put this together with you in mind, to give you some inspiration and knowledge around what you need to know when thinking about lightening up for the warmer months.
The most important thing to know about prior to going lighter is that your hair must be healthy in order to even think about it! So, what can you do to best prepare your hair?
1. If you have been using anything other than what we recommend take a closer look at it, If its from the supermarket toss it. It might be in a cute bottle and say all the right things like sulfate free, no parabens etc but theres a reason they can sell it to you for $10 a bottle and make a profit. If your not sure, shoot me an email, no judgement I promise!
2. Use a "Bond builder" incorporating these into your routine prior to your appointment will give us a healthier base to start with. We reccomend K18 Masque and Olaplex no.3
3. Find your inspiration! There are endless possibilities when it comes to blondes so it's hard to know what look will suit you best. To know what colour tones will suit you, you will need to know what your skin tone is.
To determine your skins undertone look at the veins on your wrist, if they appear green you have a warmer undertone and if they appear more blue you have cool undertones and if your a mix or can't quite tell your undertone is most likely neutral.
Cool - You can handle almost anything from soft coppers and reds to creamy and cool but not too ash!
Neutral - Most colours will look great on you but warmer tones generally suit best. Think honeys and golds.
Warm -You can do naturals to soft golds and even cool reds (yes they exist)
Looking for some celebrity inspo? Try and find someone with a similar skin tone and eye colour and see what you like on them...
My picks for what colours will be trending for spring are solid blondes, peachy/strawberry tones and barely there brondes.
* My secret tip for keeping your blonde super shiny is to gloss! Come into the salon for a gloss no more than four weeks post colour app to top up the tone and add that shine back in!
Thanks for reading, see you in the salon!
